With 35 years of professional experience as a senior executive, managing director, and shareholder of solar companies, Reinhard Wecker is a proven insider. Thanks to its many years of operational management experience, ASC – Advanced Solar Consulting GmbH also assumes concrete responsibility for the implementation of concepts and tasks.
Reinhard Wecker works according to the following guiding principles:
1987 – 1989
First developments of a „Swimming Encapsulation” of solar cells for 3 dimensionally – curved solar modules at MWB in Bamberg
1989 – 1994
Based on this “Swimming encapsulation” – developments of a solar sunroof started for AUDI at MWB and based on AUDI’s nomination letter for a solar sunroof for Audi A8 (D2), WEBASTO took over the solar business of MWB
1994 – 2000
Launch of solar sunroofs of 40 – 50 Watts for AUDI (A8, A6, A4); VW (Passat, Tuareg, Phaeton); SKODA (Superb); Mercedes (E-Class), Maybach, Bentley Arnage
2001
Foundation of independent Automotive Solar System GmbH (based on AUDI’s nomination letter for a “B6C” solar sunroof
2002 – 2009
AUDI cancelled the complete car “B6C” in 2002, but strong company growth with standard solar modules and revenues up to 70 Mio., 270 employees and new production capacity of 45MW in 2009; new company group name “asola”, JV in China with double capacity = 2000 modules/ day
2009-2011
Development of Fisker KARMA roof with 2011 SOP of the largest, most powerful (120W) and most curved solar module for Fisker KARMA at asola Automotive GmbH
2012 – 2013
Strong decline of “Standard Business” due to Chinese lowest prices and insolvency of Fisker KARMA forcing asola Automotive to announce insolvency and in a Domino-Effect the entire asola Group collapsed
August 2013
Founding of a2-solar Advanced and Automotive Solar Systems GmbH by Mr. R. Wecker; Asset deal to take over asola Automotive GmbH
2014
a2-solar was nominated for the re-start of new KARMA Revero solar roof
2015 – 2025
a2-solar produces distinctive prototypes for trucks and car roofs (Audi Q6, VW Tiguan GTE and Volvo Trucks) and several other cars (not public)
2016
SOP of new solar car roof for KARMA Revero with 200 Watts
2016 – 2025
Development and production of several solar “facades” (Porsche Pylon, New City Hall of Freiburg, solar curtain façade at parking house at Austria‘s Grossglockner high alpine road, etc.)
